The Hospice provides all the orientation and training you'll need for the volunteer role you choose.

Hospice Volunteer Orientation

If you're interested in learning more about being a hospice volunteer, this basic four-hour training program is your starting point! After attending this training, you'll have a better understanding of hospice care and The Hospice's role in the community, as well as the wide variety of volunteer opportunities available.

Volunteers must complete Hospice Volunteer Orientation before attending the specialized training programs listed below.

Patient & Family Support Training

If you'd like to work directly with hospice patients and their families providing support and companionship, this training will help you feel confident and well-prepared for that role.

Bereavement Care Training

Volunteers in The Hospice's bereavement program make home visits and phone contact with people grieving the loss of family members or loved ones, and may also assist hospice counselors with record-keeping and other clerical tasks. This training, consisting of 5 three-hour classes, will help prepare you for this important role.

Thrift Shop Orientation

Perhaps you will enjoy working in The Hospice's Thrift Shops, interacting with the community and sharing our message in a retail store setting. After this two-hour orientation, you'll be ready to go to work.
